THE PROBLEM

Information is the most precious resource in a company. The most performing companies are the one who manages effectively information by providing it very rapidly to employees, partners, and customers.

With the advent of new technologies in networks and storage, the world moved from the state of “lack of information” to the state of “too much information”, billions of documents of different types are accessible through local networks, intranets, internet, making a pain to find useful information.

This information is not necessarily structured, indexed, categorized, or archived in a precise location. Consequently searching for the right information can be long and tedious, and it is difficult to share this information between potential users.

The challenge for modern companies is to find a way to make their searches more efficient and more organized by using appropriate tools. The choice for an efficient search tool contributes to increase company productivity and competitiveness and thus increasing its market share and revenues.

THE SOLUTION

InfoCrawler make access to information easier by building an information canvas from different data sources, these data sources will be indexed, and this will allow you to find and visualize very quickly relevant information.

The administrator will indicate which information sources he wants to access (web sites, file system directories, etc.) and some crawling rules, InfoCrawler will explore these sources and index all the documents that are compatible with these rules, only indexes and documents attributes (author, title,…) are stored on the server, the documents are not stored (or only temporarily for web sites).

InfoCrawler watches the evolution of these sources (new documents created, deletions or modifications) and updates the index accordingly.

It will then be possible to search and find relevant information and to visualize them using InfoQuery, a query tool that is shipped with InfoCrawler, you can also integrate that query tool in you website or extranet.

InfoCrawler allows you to crawl and index many types of documents, including the most used ones on the market like Text, HTML, XML, RTF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat PDF, etc. These documents can come from various sources: LAN/WAN networks, Intranet, Internet, News groups, FTP site, local or remote disks, databases.
